Common questions about sending and carrying parcels on Waylo Go.
How does Waylo Go work?
Senders post parcels with route and recipient details. ID-verified travelers post trips with spare capacity, by flight anywhere we operate, or by car or bus inside Ethiopia. You match in-app, fund escrow, hand off the parcel, and the recipient confirms with a one-time SMS code to release payment.
Is my payment safe?
Quotes are in ETB (200 ETB plus 15 ETB per kg to start). For the first bags, Waylo may take Telebirr, CBE, or cash and hold it until the recipient confirms with the 6-digit code. Disputes can freeze payment while Waylo reviews evidence.
What can I send?
Documents, clothing, gifts, and similar personal items on most corridors. No cash, drugs, weapons, hazmat, or prohibited goods. See the full prohibited items policy before posting.
How does the delivery code work?
When a parcel is in transit, we text (and optionally email) the recipient a 6-digit code. They share it with the traveler only once they have the parcel. The traveler enters it in the app to confirm delivery.
What if something goes wrong?
Either party can open a dispute from the parcel or match page. Upload photos and messages as evidence. Waylo resolves based on handoff records, chat, and delivery code logs.
Do I need ID verification?
Phone verification is required to post. Government ID + selfie (via Stripe Identity) is optional for this Ethiopia launch and unlocks a higher trust score.
How are prices set?
The Ethiopia starting offer is 200 ETB plus 15 ETB per kg. Senders can change it or leave it blank to negotiate. Travelers can list a per-kg rate. During launch, Waylo takes 0% commission, so travelers keep the full agreed offer. If you pay in the app, senders also pay a 3.5% compliance fee.
Can I send to the same family member again?
Yes. Save recipients when posting a parcel and pick them from the dropdown on your next shipment.
Which routes are live?
Live now: Addis ↔ Bahir Dar, Hawassa, and Dire Dawa, both ways, by flight, car, or bus. Other Ethiopian cities can still be posted. DC, New York, Dubai, and London are on the waitlist. See corridor pages for route-specific FAQs and typical prices.
